Are u saying its wrong to buy a Maxed out Mini Mac cos the best they offer is 4GB of Ram but If you do it yourself you can buy more than 4GB’s of Ram and install it yourself????

One of the best vids i’ve found for this mod. Although nothing was mentioned about zapping the pram after assembly. I’ve heard my 07 mini can be zapped using my “wireless” keyboard, (cmd+opt+p+r) or done with a button on the logic board somewhere? (not sure how to do that) My 4Gb’s will be delivered in a day or two and ill try it for the first time. Any thoughts on zapping pram after installing new hardware appreciated. Word…;-)
why not order the …
why not order the mac mini with the max. amount ram, and avoid the hassle of doing this? that way you prevent yourself from damaging anything and voiding your warranty. If you void the warr. that may actually cost you lots more later on than the cost of the ram.
I would like to see how an apple tech would replace the ram, if a customer sent it in for an upgrade.

i just did mine, it’s a newer Intel and it’s different inside… you need to tell people NOT to dig too far in when prying with the putty knife, i used a pizza cutter and it was fine, but i didn’t know not to dig it too far down and might have pried it up against the circuit board and damaged some components! i freaked after i opened it and realized how far i was digging into it. You only need to dig in you pry tool about a centimeter of less then pry.

I went from 1 gig …
I went from 1 gig to 4 gigs. This worked well for me. I messed up and severed the airport extreme antenna when seating the chasis. Not sure what cut the cord. I use wired ethernet so its no biggie for me and its still seems to pick up some wireless signal. I’m glad for no more beachball with my additional RAM.

uhm… this video doesn’t demonstrate the hardest part of this process, which would have been shown directly before “slide the computer out of its casing”. Using the knife as shown on the three sides definitely does not prepare it for easily sliding out of anything.
