What word did the announcers use often during the Olympics to refer to a mass or runners moving together?

It was an odd word, maybe Latin based, and it was a favorite during the Olympics. It referred to the main group of runners, boats, etc. as they moved along during the race.

Are you thinking of the Peleton?
