John Riggins & Joe …
John Riggins & Joe Washington are the Real Thunder & Lighting Combo.
that guy wasnt …
that guy wasnt really elusive he was a power back
speed and agility …
speed and agility play only a small part in being an elusive running back what plays the biggest part is smarts
when clinton portis …
when clinton portis 100% healthy i’d take clinton portis.
Come back to the …
Come back to the Redskins, Joe. They need you…bad!
I think it was …
I think it was Randall Cuningham if my memory is right.
Who is #7 on this …
Who is #7 on this list, I can’t find that one vid. for this set ??
I’d trade a hundred …
I’d trade a hundred Clinton Portis’s for 1 Joe Washington.
OU = the REAL …
OU = the REAL Tailback U.
I got to see Joe …
I got to see Joe Washington’s entire career at Oklahoma. He is one of the most under-rated RBs of all time.

Him and Riggins almost got thousand yards together one year.

easy, they couldnt …
easy, they couldnt catch him!
I remember that …
I remember that game. I was expecting the colts
to lose because if i remember correctly they got shut out 38-0 by Dallas earlier in the year.
I played, so I can …
I played, so I can say height, weight, speed, power, scheme, and technique all makes a dynamic difference. Jim Brown never faced a playing field like that of today. Would he still have dominated like he did back then, today? Who knows? Steven Jackson of the Rams is bigger, faster, and stronger than Jim Brown. Jackson is a very good player but not considered better than Tomlinson or Peterson. Btw, could you imagine 6’7 290 lb Mario Williams head-slapping an OT, like Deacon Jones use to?
BS. The game was …
BS. The game was hard hitting back then. Now there’s a bunch of rules to protect the players. Watch any highlight of “hits” ect, and you will find that a majority of the clips are from the older days. Trying to compare today’s running backs with the likes of Brown is ridiculous.
Your post is just filled with stat fluff. Being tall and fast doesn’t mean squat in football.
And should I mention the vast improvement of player equipment over those decades? Face it, today’s players have it made.
One question: Who’s …
One question: Who’s the artist of this song playing in the background starting at about 0:52 in the clip? I love the beat.
These “punk ass” …
These “punk ass” RB’s today play against a faster, bigger, and stronger opponent than those RB’s of 25, 30 and 40 years ago! You never saw Jim Brown or Joe Washington get ran down Safeties – who ran 4.4/4.3 40-yd dashes – because there weren’t any at that time! Neither were there 6’5 265 lb DE’s who ran 4.49 40-yd dashes, like Jevon Kearse. Neither were there D’linemen who averaged 6’4 315 lbs. Different age (skill and scheme), brother!
Both Joe @ Billy …
Both Joe @ Billy set standards for the backs of today…
he was the man at ou
he was the man at ou
i went to school …
i went to school with him at lincoln high in port arthur texas hes was quite a player and a nice all around guy he kept our books for our little league team i play baseball with his brother kenny he also was a good athlete
What I want to know …
What I want to know is: At only 170 lbs, how was Joe Washington able to take those punishing hits of the NFL? Because the guy was tough, and durable.
