How much would great runners like Kenenisa Bekele get paid if they lived in America?

Kenenisa Bekele, Haile Gebreselassie and many other Ethiopian and Kenyan Runners are the top runners in the world. They own the record for over 5-10 events and win cross country championships 5 years in a row (I looked it up). What if these elite athletes lwere born here in the USA. Would they be famous? Would many people love to watch the sport of running more? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time?

They would be famous…..but really only to those who care about running or watch running events. They probably be like a average baseball player….if you care about the sport, sure you’d recognize them while out. If not you wouldn’t even know they were famous. Don’t know if it would draw much more interest in people watching the sport…..it’s just not a thing spectators like to watch.
