and for what ? noone even pays attention to car alarms anymore. When is the last time you heard a car alarm and thought “that car is being stolen”. Or do you usually think “what a dick, that thing is way too loud and always going off”.

Car alarms are not theft deterrents. They are nuisances.

If a window was smashed, the alarm would set off, then the pager system would notify the owner. Seriously, STFU! It’s not like the “boy” is crying “wolf” these days. Simply keep your valuables out of plain sight in a car and keep your windows rolled up and your doors locked when leaving a vehicle.

That is the purpose …
That is the purpose of the pager. It allows me to run out of the house with a bat and cave his face in.

And they still are a deterrant no matter how annoying.

You are less likely to break into a car in a crowded busy area with an alarm. It still turns heads and attracts attention towards you.

Do you realize that a majority of car alarms are configured to kill ignition, starter, fuel etc. (when installed correctly)? I actually do not have a siren attached to my car at all, it’s merely serving as fuel kill at the moment.
