I like the look of a runner in an entry way, it’s welcoming. I think you just need to be sure it’s the right size. You just don’t want it too big, because then it will make the area appear small and cluttered.

I think it would look fine.

If it’s a hardwood floor make sure you put some double-sided tape or rubber backing under it or it will slide all over the place.

I have seen it done before and it looked good! I could not agree more on the rug pad—it is the best thing I have ever done for my rugs (floors and the people that like to trip on the edges). It is worth the little extra

it not only looks good but it will save your carpet or wood floor from dirt and damage
a tip is to get a dark brown runner as it will not show any dirt and is easy to keep clean

I used to always have runners in the entry, but have switched to an octogon right by the door which I like alot more. But, yes, I think runners are fine for that area.

I think it is very practical to have a runner in the entryway. In fact I have got one by my back door and one by my front door. My dog appreciates it too, he doesn’t slide all over the place! My only suggestion, would be to get one that matches your colors in your entryway.
