Is the Sarah Palin Newsweek cover sexist?

The newest Newsweek magazine cover showed Sarah Palin (one they took from a runner’s magazine) in red jogging suit and black running shorts. Is this sexist?
Doctor-I disagree but your point is right on.
Rickey, Niko, Danne: what kind of magazine is Newsweek or what do we think of when we say Newsweek? Completely inappropriate picture to use for the cover. What if the picture was that of Michelle Obama? How about President Obama? Heck, they did not event protrait President Bush, an big runner, in such light. What do you mean so what?
Anna Kournikova: love the comment! Thanks for a good laugh.

yes because it trivializes her role as a politician. What would you think of obama if you saw him in jogging shorts an a gooofy smile on the front of news week?

It isn’t sexist, it’s was just a bad play on Newsweek’s part to use a picture taken from a sports magazine to portray Sarah in a certain way.

I didn’t vote for Palin, but I do agree that Newsweek tends to take things too far sometimes in portraying celebrities and political figures in a certain way. But then again- all media does this! Why should we be surprised?

She’s playing the feminist card. Words like sexist are standard buzz words. If you put yourself out there it’s fair game.

If she was black she would cry racism.

No. It’s not like they were paparazzi and she was in her backyard. It was from a photo shoot for another magazine and Newsweek took the one that looked best. If she didn’t want magazines to use it she shouldn’t have taken it. She’s just trying to stir up media attention so her book will sell.

Nope, it’s just a picture of her in a short outfit. Who cares?
