hi all, i live in a ranch home with a crawl space underneath it. i recently bought this house and am spending my first winter there. there is installation under the floors now, but the floors are still very cold, especially in morning.
some things to know are that:i keep my furnance temp at 69, and i have bought a few area rugs and runners.
i hope there is a better way to keep them warm thsi winter, my kids warm socks and slippers and stil get cold. thanks
Be Careful, if you start insulating under the floor, anything that you do which inhibits the natural flow of moisture, can cause problems as the weather and seasons change.
Termite people like for you to cover the ground in a crawl space with plastic to keep the moisture down and thus keep the growth of mold on the bottom of the floor. The problem is there needs to be a natural balance because seal it too much and it dries out and the floor start to shrink and you get an increase in the gap between the boards.
Close off the under house vents and you get a build up in moisture and the opposite starts to happen. So it is an ongoing process to open and close foundation vents as the seasons change. The insulation installed under the floor often does not have a brown paper backing (vapor barrier) so the moisture vapor can move freely
Back to your problem, close most of the foundation vents, most is the key word here, your just trying to cut down on the speed with which outside air moves thru the space. Beyond this enjoy living in a home with hardwoods and just figure the cold floors help you get started of a morning, remember winter doesn’t last all year.
I recieved a call last night from an unknown company . They said I was a runner up for winning a contest (I have entered a few contests lately) and was going to be sent a diamond watch, as well as 2 years of free magazine subscriptions. They proceeded to tell me that I would be charged nothing for the watch and the subscriptions, but that I would be signed up for two other subscriptions of my choice for around 3 dollars a week. To verify that I was the right person, they asked for the rest of my debit card info. They already knew my address, home phone, cell phone, card type and first few digits of the card…so it sounded legitimate. You don’t have to tell me what an idiot I was for doing that, I know it. I reported my account as compromised once I had gotten off the phone. They had already charged $50 dollars to my account, which I am disputing. I called the attorney general to report it as a scam, cannot contact the company themselves due to blocked numbers.Anyone have conact info?
I believe the name of the company may be Big Sky Publications.
Since the charges have not completely cleared my account I do not know, they were simply listed as "Periodicals" on the charge statement.
Note: They will start sending me periodicals soon, expecting me to pay for them, though I did NOT authorize them to use my debit card info. to pay for this. I am considering putting a fraud alert on my credit report to disable them from affecting it. Anything they send will be returned, I do NOT want it!
I never agreed to pay them a dime. They said they would send paperwork in the mail before anything happened. I did not authorize the use of that card for any such purchase.
They just called under the name of US Magazine Service, claiming that because I gave them my information, I had agreed to pay. They refused to give me any contact information. No phone number, no address, nothing.
After filing a complaint with the BBB less than an hour ago, the BBB website led me to a genuine contact number. I called and stated that I was calling to cancel my subscription (federal law states that all phone transactions have a 3 day cooling off period, even if I hadn’t been scammed) the woman told me my subscription had been cancelled, and I would recieve one more phone call from the company to be recorded that I had cancelled. Should I also send an over-night cancellation letter to be sure there is NO question that I cancelled my "subscription" ?
Try the local police and BBB
it’s nothing more than a few screws and pops right into place
I thought it was till I noticed in this totally awesome jump rope performance by the Kings Firecrackers at a US Naval Academy basketball game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2WK44cH2J0
that there’s someone in the stands (seen around 7:20 and later) that is in a bear suit and holding a shark.
Just a Homestar fan, or are they mascots or something?
I would have to say that Homestar came first, but origins can get muddled pretty easily
Here is the list you require, I added the score as well.
The source in [1] was used to compile the list, but some years are wrong. The other sources were used to confirm the list, and fill in missing or wrong information. [7] appears the best site for rugby league information, and I found a lot more information here.
NOTE:
1920, 1928 and 1937 in [1] is wrong, these can be confirmed in [2], [3], and [5].
1911, 1915, 1927 are also contentious years.

It’s 12′ X 20′ I want to move it about 5 miles all on divided highway so I’ll actually have 2 full lanes to work with if I have an escort to clear traffic. Can do late at nite or early before traffic
just call a flat bed tow truck. might be about $50.00
I just need something that will help like ice? heat? Anything?
Thank you!
The best thing for it is rest! If it looks swollen maybe some ice. If it doesn’t feel better after a couple days of resting it you might want to get it looked at!
There is backing you can buy at almost any store, WalMart, KMart, this type of store. It is rubber type material and comes in different sizes; runners are among the sizes. You simply cut the size you need if it is too large, place it down and put your rug on top. It prevents it from slipping or sliding around, keeps it stable, and really works. I have all area rugs on my hardwood floors and purchased them for all my rugs.
I ‘ve put a couple on runners on my carpet to keep from tracking mud & such onto my wall to wall, but it keeps shifting & riding up. Is there a way to keep the runners in place?
Yes , Like Dawn said, you get some special mats that are made for carpet over carpet.
Know your rug sizes since these come in sheets like 3×4, 6×8 , 10×12 etc..
You cut these to fit and you can have a couple pcs if you have long runners like you said.
They have a "tackiness" to them and they will gather dirt and dust over time and you can toss in the washer and they come back to life and can be reused.
Shelf liners will leave a residue that will attract dirt and possible stain the carpet below.
Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar .. GL
I enjoyed both field runners and tap defense and am looking fr a similiar game but cannot seem to find one, can you suggest any?
